First, check that you have everything you need to install your dashcam.
Your Zubie dashcam box has everything you need to get started! Check to make sure you have these items:
- Dashcam device
- Six foot OBD-II cable with dashcam connector
- Cable clips
- Alcohol wipe for cleaning the dashboard
- Dashboard/windshield mount
- Small hex/Allen wrench (this can be used to adjust the mount if needed)
Then follow these instructions to install your dashcam device.
- Prepare Your Dashcam
- Insert the provided MicroSD card into the labeled slot on the dashcam.
- Connect the L-shaped end of the cable to the bottom of the dashcam.
- Install Your Dashcam
- Firmly push the OBD-II connector end of the cable into the OBD-II diagnostic port in your vehicle. Your dashcam will power on.
- Wait for the device to cycle through the setup screens. This takes 5-10 minutes.
- Once you see the clock and mph display, turn your vehicle on. Wait 30 seconds, and turn your vehicle off.
- Check that Your Device is Set Up
- Open app.zubie.com on your browser or download Zubie (app store/google play).
- Sign in using your registered email account.
- Check that your vehicle is visible on the live map.
- Position the Dashcam for Ideal Visibility
- Always follow the laws regarding dashcam placement in your state.
- If you’d like to see the camera view while you install it: Click on the vehicle’s overview in the Zubie app. Click “view live feed” under Dashcam to see the dashcam video stream. You can click the icon to switch between forward facing and in-cabin video views.
- Place the dashcam in your desired location on the dashboard or windshield based on the video view and your state’s laws. We recommend higher placement to avoid obstructing the view with the windshield wipers. Under the rear-view mirror often works well.
- Use the included alcohol wipe to clean the area of the dashboard or windshield where you will mount the dashcam. Let the cleaning solution completely dry.
- Adhere your dashcam mount to the vehicle.
- Use the provided clips to tuck away the loose cable.
Common Troubleshooting
- If the screen does not turn on quickly once it is installed, you may need to press the end of the cable more firmly into the OBD-II port.
- If you don’t see your vehicle on the live map, you may need to take a trip. Be sure to drive somewhere with strong cell service and a clear view of the sky. Then turn your vehicle off before you look at the Zubie live map again.
- The dashcam mount will adhere best if you use the provided wipe to clean the vehicle surface, and let it fully dry before adhering the mount.
