Log into your Zubie Account
The first time you use the Zubie Rental Agent extension, you will need to authenticate your Zubie account. This is very easy to do.
First, click the Zubie icon in your browser toolbar.
This will open the Rental Agent extension on the side of your browser window.
Enter your login credentials and click LOG IN.
Now you’re ready to use the Zubie Rental Agent Extension. As long as you do not proactively log out, your Zubie credentials will remain logged in for this browser.
Using Zubie Rental Agent Extension
Now that you’re logged in, you can search by VIN or vehicle name. You’ll be able to select the correct vehicle if multiple vehicles meet your search criteria.
There are two ways to search.
- You can highlight the VIN or Vehicle Name in your rental contract. Then right click, and select Search in Zubie Rental Agent. This will automatically open the Rental Agent with the proper vehicle.
- You can click on the Zubie browser extension icon in your toolbar and paste the vin or Vehicle Name in the search box.
Once you’ve searched for a connected vehicle, you will be able to click to copy this information:
- Fuel level or vehicle battery charge
- Dashboard or calculated odometer*
- 12-volt battery voltage
*Note: just like in your Zubie app, a checkmark on the odometer symbol indicates the data is coming directly from the vehicle. If there is not a checkmark in the symbol, Zubie has calculated your odometer based on a previously entered value and the miles you’ve driven.
If you click on any of the grey fields, it will automatically copy that text for you to paste into your rental contract.
We’ll also let you know if:
- any of this data is more than 24 hours old
- the vehicle is disconnected from your Zubie device
- the check engine light is on for the vehicle you searched
One more quick note, if you have any assets set up in your Zubie account, those will not display in the Zubie Rental Agent search results.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which browsers will the extension work in?
Chrome and Microsoft Edge
How do I install the new browser extension?
Open Edge or Chrome and visit this link.
How should I log into the Zubie Rental Agent Extension?
We recommend logging in as soon as you install the Zubie Rental Agent extension. After that, the device and browser you’re using will stay logged in unless you actively click “log out”.
Any existing Zubie admin or viewer credentials will also work with the Rental Agent extension. If you plan to share the login credentials with your counter agents, we recommend creating a new “viewer” user.
Please note: If you do share the login credentials for counter agents to use in the Rental Agent extension, that same username and password would provide access to the Zubie app. Being logged into the Rental Agent extension does not grant access to the Zubie app. A person would need to know the Zubie app URL or have the app installed to log in separately.
Will my counter agents need to know my Zubie login to use the Rental Agent?
No, but you will need to log in the first time the extension is used on a new browser or new machine.
How can I make it easy for counter agents to log into the Rental Agent extension on their own if they need to?
We recommend creating a new “viewer” user, using an email address that is not used by anyone else at your organization. Only communicate this login as being used for the Rental Agent extension.
Please note: Logging into the extension does not grant access to the primary Zubie app. However, if someone visits https://app.zubie.com/ or installs the Zubie app, these username and password for your new “viewer” will also provide access to the Zubie app.
Do I need to install the Zubie Rental Agent on all of our machines?
Yes, you will need to go through the installation steps on any device you want to be able to use the Zubie Rental Agent. You should only need to do this once for each device.
What information will my counter agents be able to see in the Zubie Rental Agent?
Once you’ve searched for a connected vehicle, you will be able to see the current:
- Fuel level or vehicle battery charge
- Dashboard reported or calculated odometer
- 12-volt battery voltage
We’ll also let you know if:
- any of this data is more than 24 hours old
- the vehicle is disconnected from your Zubie device
- the check engine light is on for the vehicle you searched
Does the Zubie Rental Agent work for assets as well as vehicles?
No, you can only search for vehicles on the Zubie Rental Agent extension.
